The Santa Fe City Council (New Mexico) decided to create murals to embellish the city walls, so some agencies and groups were commissioned to do so.
Five groups were responsible for embellishing 24 walls in various parts of town. One of them drew a traditional cartoon image on one of the walls, in which the roadrunner is in front of a fake tunnel. The mural was a big mistake and will be repainting soon, because in less than a week it has caused 16 traffic accidents. The mural was apparently painted in a realistic way, so the drivers believed they were really in front of a tunnel.
Fortunately, no serious accidents have happened, but because of the painting, the City Council will have to pay so much money to repair damaged vehicles.
